Sheriff Julius Reports County Jail Statistics for 1911
From the annual sheriff’s report to the County Commissioners the year 1911 saw 45 prisoners, only one of whom was a woman. Total days in county custody reached 623, with $373.80 owed for board. Most inmates faced minor offenses. two were sent to St. Cloud and Stillwater, and several transfers occurred to reformatories and state institutions. The sheriff also transported 8 male and 4 female insanity patients to State Hospital at St. Peter.

Well known pioneer Mrs Margaretha Nix dies at home in New Ulm after a week illness. Born Margaretha Schneider in Germany 1835 she came to America as a child, married Capt Jacob Nix in 1852, moved to New Ulm in 1868, survived by daughters Amalia and Emmy and several grandchildren. Funeral Thursday at two with Capt Alb Sternbauer delivering address. Former Ulmite Suffers Serious Fall In Florida
Wm. Laudenschlager, a former New Ulm resident now in Barton Florida, fell from a hotel roof twenty five feet high at Winter Haven striking a skylight. A deep cut on the left wrist severed vessels and tendons, causing heavy blood loss and a two hour surgical effort to close the wound. Doctors relieved him but worry remains over possible permanent stiffness. family friends hope for full recovery.

Funeral of Capt. Ralph Yates Held Tuesday
The funeral for Capt. Ralph Yates who died after an appendicitis operation in the Philippine Islands was held Tuesday at the Congregational Church. Yates, born November 20, 1870 in Marshall Wisconsin, lived in New Ulm and later joined the Philippine constabulary rising to Captain. He is survived by his parents in Sleepy Eye, sister Mia Mueller of New Ulm, and brother Dr. Fred Yates of Virginia. Masonic rites were performed with a city cemetery service and a salute by Company A.
