New Kind of Barley Promises Bigger Minnesota Crop
State Experimental Station sends barley samples to farmers as Prof. P Bull of the state agricultural school reports six row barley must meet European and American market tastes. The six row No 105 variety sells at 1.50 per bushel in up to four bushel lots. Prof. Ball estimates a 10 percent yield increase, boosting Minnesota’s barley crop value by about 15.7 million dollars from 17 million.

Gas is cheaper and touted as safer and cleaner, with typical usage around 20 000 cubic feet per year costing about 30.00.

Farmers Institute yields strong interest in corn contest
The two day Porter Institute in this city on January 7 and 8 drew large attendance and lively discussion among farmers. Talks by Wm. McConnel H. H. Aspden and J. R. Morley covered dairy herd management clover fodder, seed corn selection and co operation. Aspden emphasized fodder corn timing and future yields while Morley and Brackett spoke on apples and potato planting in Minnesota with practical advice for farmers.
