Prominent Professor John Schaller Dies After Influenza
Obituary notes the death of Professor John Schaller in Wauwatosa Wisconsin after a 36 hour illness from influenza and pleurisy. Born 1859 in St Louis he led Luther College and later served as president of the Lutheran Seminary. Survived by widow and eight children with several sons and daughters married to clergy. Funeral held at Grace Church Milwaukee with friends from New Ulm in attendance. He was a noted author and theologian and a beloved teacher and pianist.

Health officer Dr. Jos H Vogel issued an order banning all public and private gatherings including dances and meetings in New Ulm on February 4 1920. The ban extended to moving picture houses and was to be strictly enforced by police. One more influenza death reported as cases rise.

Oppression Plea Settles Minnesota Case for $100 Fines
