Citywide Christmas events include a large live tree from Idaho failed to arrive as planned. a homegrown tree will be used instead. Tragedy at Bad R R Crossing Claims Two Lives
In St Peter two residents, Peter Reheeme and his wife, died after a north crossing collision with a freight train near the Omaha station. The couple, from Le Sueur county, had attended church and were returning home when the accident occurred last Sunday noon. Coroner’s jury found the deaths due to railway company negligence in safeguarding the crossing.

A young man was arrested in Brownton after boarding a freight train with a sackful of goods stolen from a Brownton hardware store. A second suspect, Ray Bourne, was caught in Minneapolis and confessed to multiple robberies along the M. and St. L. line. Carl Meeks, age 20, identified as the Brownton thief, claimed partnership, while Meeks’s accomplice remained unnamed at the time. The pair were linked to robberies in Gibbon Brownton Winthrop and linked to water main workers in other towns.

Local District Court Closes as Prison Terms Begin
