Blackie Lampl Ends Life In Moonshine Tragedy
Wenzel Lampl known as Blackie, a well known local character, shot himself at his parents home on South Front Street after a day drinking. He placed a 26 caliber rifle in his mouth after firing at a ceiling and window, following threats and prior arrests for disorderly conduct related to moonshine. Survived by parents and several siblings, funeral arrangements were not yet made.

Former Sleepy Eye Man Attempts Suicide by Stabbing
Ernest Monetschlaeger aged 55 of St Paul attempted death by own action Friday morning by stabbing himself twice in the chest. He threatened his wife minutes earlier and then used a paring knife. Doctors say the blade penetrated the heart wall with slim chances of recovery. Domestic troubles cited as cause. He has been married three times. his first wife was a sister to Mike Huiras. the family once lived near Sleepy Eye and their daughter Agnes taught near New Ulm last summer.

Turners Defeat Hanska in Fast Hanska Hall Battle
The Hanska Alumni club fell to New Ulm Turners in a high speed game at Hanska. Hanska started slow, trailing 33 to 14 at halftime, then tightened to 10 to 14 in the second half but could not overcome the early deficit for a 24 to 47 final. The Hanska team remained hopeful and planned a return game at Dither Hall.

Fatal hunting accident ends Edwin Grossmann life in Jamestown
Edwin Grossmann 28 of Linden township died after a revolver discharged while hunting mink near Jamestown North Carolina. The gunshot entered his right cheek just above the eye and caused death about four hours later. He traveled to Jamestown last August for work with Henry Jeske. Survived by his parents and several siblings. Funeral held at St John’s Catholic church in Searles. A relief drive supported by local churches aided families in need. Two bridges across the Minnesota river planned with 822 and 225 foot spans, costing 48792 dollars, to employ about 150 workers with local payroll around 10000 dollars. Construction to begin immediately with two camps and bridging firms J E Anderson and A Wagerstrom of St Paul.

A civic gathering on South Minnesota Street arranged a municipal Christmas tree fete on the Siebenbrunner lawn for Thursday at 7 PM. Santa Claus will attend in person to distribute candy to about a thousand children from New Ulm and surrounding areas. The high evergreen will be lit with multicolored lights and a short program is planned.
