New Ulm was chosen as the headquarters for an effort to establish a flood control system in the Minnesota valley. About 75 local residents attended in Turner Hall as Ay Ry Kaercher of Ortonville outlined the plan, with Senator Fl. Cliff and E. V. Willard addressing legal and engineering angles. A petition to five district judges was started with about 40 signatures secured, aiming for a hearing to push flood control legislation.

Grandstand near completion for Brown County Fair
The new grandstand at the Brown County Fair grounds is nearing completion under President Ferdinand Crone and contractor Otto Tappe. It will seat about 1,800, triple the old capacity, and includes a rest room and improved refreshment areas. Construction of a 38x84 foot hog barn will follow to house prize porkers. Children’s Day arrives Wednesday as the fair opens Monday, August 30.

Vogel Case Taken Under Advisement by Governor
Governor Burnquist took under advisement the ouster case against Brown County auditor Lewis G. Vogel after arguments by Alfred W. Mueller for Vogel and James H. Hall for the complainant.
