Charles Spreng Sr a longtime New Ulm tailor born in Germany in 1839 died after a self inflicted revolver shot on Wednesday shortly after 5 30 pm He had been ill and told neighbors of his plan The 38 caliber weapon entered his brain and he died instantly The body was moved to Buenger’s for burial and interred in the city cemetery Surviving are his second wife Margaretta Gruenenfelder two sons Louis Spreng and Charles Spreng a brother in Cleveland and a niece in Cincinnati He came to America in 1864 and settled in New Ulm in 1875 where he lived the rest of his life

Events include prayer and song Monday, addresses by state workers, divisional conferences Tuesday forenoon, a business session and papers Tuesday afternoon, and a closing service Tuesday evening. Karl of New Ulm was elected president with Hy. Leitschuh Sleepy Eye as vice president and Wm. Lindemann New Ulm as secretary treasurer. The executive committee includes Rev. F. P. Warner and E. H. Snow Sleepy Eye and Jacob Vetter New Ulm. Attendees from here were Henry Vedder, Wm. Lindemann, Jos. Karl and Jacob Vetter. The treasurer reported spending $816.45 and receiving $790.50. the association remains in good standing with over $100 in exhibition coops and life member status in the American Poultry Association.
