Solicitors To Open Red Cross Drive in Adams County
Chapter chairman C P Keefer announced a Red Cross fund drive will start Thursday in Adams County with a large canvassing team. The goal is 6500 dollars, covering all areas outside Gettysburg Community Chest. New solicitors include Berwick Two and East Berlin Borough members, McSherrystown and New Oxford volunteers, Oxford Two, Tyrone Two, and additional names listed for various townships and boroughs.

Pitzer Named To State Post
Free chest x rays today in New Oxford for residents over five. H Earl Pitzer, Republican, of Aspers, is appointed assistant director of highway safety for the state. The move places him in the Adams County rotation of the chest x ray program run by the Scranton Tuberculosis Society and Christmas Seal campaign. Pitzer previously headed the highway safety bureau under Gov. John S. Fine. Leona Timney, 67, New Oxford, was admitted to York Hospital after a car struck a utility pole, suffering a broken leg and facial injuries when a tire failed while passing east of Hellam. State police noted the crash occurred at 10:30 am Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. McMaster of Abbottstown celebrated 25 years of marriage with a Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on February 26, 1938, and have eight children.
