The East Berlin Fire Co. placed a new 1942 Ford chassis equipped with 1000 gallon water tank and two way radio into service. Donations from Lerew's Inc and many locals funded the truck and assorted fire hall improvements.

Forty Hours Devotion Ends At Sacred Heart Church Conewago

Many priests attended the Forty Hours devotion closing at Sacred Heart Church in Conewago Chapel with a procession by altar boys eighth grade girls Holy Name Society members and flower girls. Rev. David Shaum of Mt. St. Marys College Emmitsburg preached the sermons. Rev. Leo Krichten of St. Josephs Bonneauville chanted the Litany. The closing benediction was led by Rev. Auto turns over at Hanover Carlisle road intersection

Richard E. Sanders of Hanover, age 21, escaped injury when his car ran off Dicks Dam road at the Hanover Carlisle highway intersection and overturned in a field. Police said loss of control occurred as he turned onto Dicks Dam road from the highway. Car damage estimated at $300.

Irishtown Fire Co Carnival Saturday

The Irishtown Fire Company hosts its annual Carnival this Saturday at Irishtown. Conewago Joint School Board adopts a 1955 56 budget of 292 875 with allocations for general control instructional service and capital outlay. R L Social Club Holds Annual Picnic

The R. L. Social Club of the Livingston Shoe Factory New Oxford held its annual picnic at Farmers Grove on Saturday with about 165 people. A family dinner was served, supper was cafeteria style, and a big party included 500 horseshoes and children’s events with prizes for high scorers. Officers named include President Kathryn Weaver Vice President Joseph Duttera secretary Carrie Starry and Press George Costella. Mrs LeRoy Rife oversaw the meals.
