A baby boy was born to York Springs residents at Carlisle Hospital.
Approximately 135 Beamer descendants gathered Sunday at the Berdersville Firemen's Park for the first Beamer reunion. The Emit family led the largest turnout with FR. D. and Gardners among notable attendees.

The East Berlin Fire Co. placed a new 1942 Ford chassis equipped with 1000 gallon water tank and two way radio into service. Donations from Lerew's Inc and many locals funded the truck and assorted fire hall improvements.
J Galdridge, Hanover R 5 and Donald Wentz, Hanover formerly of Hanover R 5, were arrested June 14 for dumping rubbish in Oxford township about May 27. They paid $50 fines plus costs June 17. Kenneth R Miller Gettysburg R 5 was stopped June 18 for a defective muffler and given ten days. Robert D Crawford Hanover was cited June 17 for speeding and track and given ten days.

Donna Jean Chronister daughter of Mr and Mrs Ralph L Chronister York Springs joined Harold Thomas Riley son of Mr and Mrs George E Riley Gardners in a June 11 double ring ceremony at York Springs Methodist parsonage. Rev Amos D Meyers officiated. The bride is York Springs High School class of 1955. The groom attended Bellville High School and serves in the United States Navy stationed in Norfolk Virginia.
Many priests attended the Forty Hours devotion closing at Sacred Heart Church in Conewago Chapel with a procession by altar boys eighth grade girls Holy Name Society members and flower girls. Rev. David Shaum of Mt. St. Marys College Emmitsburg preached the sermons. Rev. Leo Krichten of St. Josephs Bonneauville chanted the Litany. The closing benediction was led by Rev. Rodney Hemler Tyrone with Rev. Carl Brady York deacon and Rev. Richard Hartnett McSherrystown sub deacon. Additional clergy and church leaders were present in the sanctuary.
New Oxford Vacation Church School with 108 students studies Jesus Lives. Students and teachers praised for fine work as Rev Amos Meyers led worship and Rev A C Rohrbaugh reads this week. Closing service Friday at 7 30 PM in First Lutheran adult room. public invited.
Richard E. Sanders of Hanover, age 21, escaped injury when his car ran off Dicks Dam road at the Hanover Carlisle highway intersection and overturned in a field. Police said loss of control occurred as he turned onto Dicks Dam road from the highway. Car damage estimated at $300.
The Irishtown Fire Company hosts its annual Carnival this Saturday at Irishtown. Chicken Pot Pie Platters with option of pie or vegetables, bread, butter, coffee and cole slaw, for $1.00 starting at 4 pm. Suppers served rain or shine. chicken soup and various sandwiches also for sale. A Big Party with music by the New Oxford High School Band.
The Locust Inn two miles north of Cross Keys on Route 94 opens under Robert D. Butterbusch. The grand opening runs Wednesday through Saturday with music and dancing by Round and Paul Jones.
Howard Geisler of Gettysburg was fined $10 and court costs by Justice John H. Basehore after a disorderly conduct arrest. Constable Leo Riley apprehended him. The notice appears alongside an advertisement for Corsets and Bras at Ruth Kay Shop in Hanover.
Wilbur H. Miller Jr. of New Oxford graduates from Jefferson Medical College Philadelphia. Commencement was at the American Academy of Music. He earned a four year pre medical course at Dickinson College and will begin an internship at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu after receiving his Army Reserve Medical Corps commission.

The New Oxford Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary requests donations for Adams County Home Visiting Day on June 25. Needed items include baked goods vegetables fruits candy needlework dressed chickens and more. The Fire Hall kitchen opens 10 to 11 AM for drop offs. Auxiliary members will assist at the event.
The Esso Service Center at 434 Lincolnway West New Oxford is now leased by Dick Holtry and Shorty Huffman and will be operated by Holtry and Pete Markle. Lloyd Stock Jr. moves from the old 343 Lincolnway West to work with his brother William D. Stock, a New Oxford mason contractor, at the new site.
The board of directors of the First National Bank of Gettysburg declared a regular semi annual dividend of three percent. Shareholders of record on June 30 will receive the dividend payable July 1, announced by bank president Edmund W. Thomas.

Burnell Wentz performed standard selections. out of town guests came from Washington CBC C, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York City, Allentown and nearby communities.
Conewago Joint School Board adopts a 1955 56 budget of 292 875 with allocations for general control instructional service and capital outlay. Earl Resh is elected treasurer with People's State Bank as depository. Two resignations are approved, Paul E Orner and Mrs Shirley Fickes leave for government farms and Dover Joint High School. The next meeting is set for Thursday June 30.
The R. L. Social Club of the Livingston Shoe Factory New Oxford held its annual picnic at Farmers Grove on Saturday with about 165 people. A family dinner was served, supper was cafeteria style, and a big party included 500 horseshoes and children’s events with prizes for high scorers. Officers named include President Kathryn Weaver Vice President Joseph Duttera secretary Carrie Starry and Press George Costella. Mrs LeRoy Rife oversaw the meals.
Bealing's restaurant at 612 Frederick Street Hanover is enlarged with a new 24 by 24 foot concrete block kitchen on the east side. Interiors are redecorated in stages while the former kitchen becomes part of the tap room. Once complete the entire interior will be redecorated.
