Divorce suit dismissed for lack of desertion evidence
In Myrtle P. Knipple vs G Wil bert Knipple the court dismissed the libel at the appellant's cost. Judge Watson R. Davison ruled mere separation is not desertion and the libellant failed to prove wilful malicious desertion for two years. A prior master's report was deemed imprecise and no retrial granted. Storm Damage Spreads Across Hamlets and Farms
Across Green Springs Abbottstown and nearby towns a severe storm battered property. The Hanover Country Club golf course suffered major damage east of Abbottstown while the Alwine farm barn near Abbottstown was moved from its foundation. One third of a barn near Paughmansville was unroofed and hail measured up to three inches with deeper accumulating along local roads. Livestock losses occurred on Melvin Boyer’s farm as floodwaters rose forcing removal while barns roofs silos and windows broke on several properties including John Burgard Nevin Mummert and a nearby church area.

Devastating Adams County Storm Destruction Across Farms
A severe Adams County storm wrecked farm buildings and crops from Davies near Hunterstown to Labott and Menges Mills. Wind snapped a 120 foot chicken house roof, killed 300 chicks, flooded a duck house, and felled trees. Dr. Henry Stewart logged 1.55 inches of rain at Gettysburg. York County agents called it the most destructive storm here in memory, with numerous bridges washed out and widespread crop losses totaling hundreds of dollars for many farmers.
