Sanitarium Fire Claims Nine Men and One Woman
Chicago's Saint Lake's Society sanitarium at Wabash avenue and Twenty first street burned yesterday afternoon. Nine men and one woman were killed and about 30 injured as patients, many on drink or drug rehab, were trapped on upper floors. Fire originated in the basement and spread via the elevator shaft. rescuers saved 25 men by a dangerous window escape aided by Dr. C A Anderson and Ss Gott among others.
