War dead list welcomes two county men home from overseas
The U S Army Transport Greenville History will return 3754 World War II dead to the United States. Among them are two former county men Pfc Ralph B Gardner son of Caius Gardner Gardners and Pfc William Hafner son of Jacob Hafner York formerly of near New Oxford. Gardner died June 17 1944 from wounds received on D Day. Hafner was killed July 21 1944 while serving with the Fourth Division in Cherbourg or nearby. Both men were inducted in 1941 and trained at Camp Wheeler and Camp Gordon respectively before overseas service. Surviving relatives and last known occupations are listed.

Students rewarded at Adams County Sears dinner program
Gettysburg high school student George Musselman received a $100 bond at the York station during the Sears foundation dinner in the York YMCA. Other county winners included Rodney Seabright of East Berlin with a $50 bond and Robert Peters of Biglerville with a $25 bond for raising gifts during 1947.

Woman Driver Faces Charge After Collision on Lincoln Highway
Mrs. Elizabeth H. Gebhart of Gettysburg R 8 collided on the Lincoln highway at Granite with William Grey Ligon of Arlington Virginia. Ligon had a lacerated lip and facial injuries, Francis Gebhart 11 suffered arm and chin injuries. Both treated at Warner hospital. Damage totaled about 400 dollars. Gebhart charged with failing to yield the right of way.

Car Incident May Prompt Ten Day Notice
A driver on Bonneauville road stopped at a stop sign at Lincoln highway and then pulled in front of Li gon's car. A ten day notice will be sent. Mt. Joy township residents Jesse D. and Ruth M. Clapsaddie sold a tract adjoining Planks property to Walter C. and Carrie M. Plank for 175 dollars. A son was born Thursday at Warner hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodward of Gettysburg.

Manover Couple Held on Statutory Charges in Gettysburg Area
James E. Kane of Linden Avenue Manover and Ada A. Altland of East Berlin were arrested Wednesday night by state police Gettysburg substation and Constable Leo Riley on statutory charges. They waived hearings before Justice Robert P. Snyder and were held for court in 500 dollars bail each. ON PAY DAY BUY BONDS.
