The fast stepping New Oxford high school boys basketball team improved to 7-2 with an 85-12 win on Dover's floor. New Oxford led 20-8 at halftime as Yealy and Mitter scored 14 and 11 respectively. The New Oxford scrubs also won 33-12 in the prelim. Tonight Scotland visits New Oxford.

G Henry Roth was elected commander of the Gettysburg camp Sons of Union Veterans at the regular meeting Friday evening. He succeeds T J Winebrenner. Roth is a grandson of G Harry Roth and Harry J Sterner of New Oxford. his ancestors and brothers served in Civil War and World War II.
A brass ottette from New Oxford High School performs carols from the Stock tower Center Square on Christmas Eve at 8 oclock. The New Oxford Garden Club sponsors the event. Community notices include hospital admissions births and marriages, a Lions Club meeting, and local police activity.
John George Bowes 63 east of Gettysburg died after a 10 month illness. Survived by widow Bertha Loew two sisters and one brother. Funeral in Braddock Pa. Sister Thomasina, music instructor at St Josephs Academy McSherrystown, died after month illness. Mass and funeral at convent cemetery. Rebecca M Krepps Hanover died after extended illness age 51. Survived by husband and stepchildren. Requiem high mass at St Vincents. Wm C Arentz and Fannie Mae Arentz 72 Gettysburg area died after five weeks. The Hunterstown Presbyterian church hosts Christmas through the ages this Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The Hunterstown Methodist church follows on Christmas evening at 7:30 p.m. with The News of the New Born King presented by Sunday school children.
The annual Christmas party of the Willing Workers Sunday school class No 3 of the Methodist church was held at Mrs How ard Ecker home with full attendance and invited guests. Officers elected for the year include president Edna Warren vice president Ecker secretary G W Sadler and treasurer Marks Wolford. The Rev Elmer Nunemaker attended. Edna McKnight of New Oxford admitted to Warner hospital. Mrs Carvin Akland and infant son William Theodore discharged as patients.
The Adams county court granted paroles to seven men and handled numerous desertion and non support cases. Several parolees were warned about violations, with some ordered to pay arrears or face jail, and others released on parole once costs or arrears are settled. The court scheduled further sessions for January and next week.
The Always Faithful class of the First Lutheran church held their Christmas party at the home of Mrs. George E. Sheffer on Monday evening. Officers elected for 1949 include President Mrs Hillen Rife, Vice President Mrs Aaron Pressel, Secretary Mrs Charles Taylor, Treasurer Mrs Richard J Brendle, and Teacher Mrs George E Sheffer.
Louis S Harris 71 longtime Littlestown store operator and Glen Rock resident dies at home after a heart attack. Survived by three brothers Abe Max and Joseph and three sisters. Funeral held in Philadelphia with burial in Montifiore Cemetery Fox Chase.

M S Hershey of York Springs store owner and school board vice president was chosen to fill the unexpired term on the Adams county board after John W Lucabaugh's death. Announcement awaited his acceptance. Term ends in 18 months.
The New Oxford Lions Club plans a Christmas party for children age 12 and under in the public school auditorium from 2 to 5 pm on Friday December 24. A movie program will be shown and each child will receive a treat funded by the club. Admission is free with no tickets needed.
