Fifteen bids for the East Berlin sewage plant and system were opened by the East Berlin Municipal Authority on Tuesday night. An auditor will study the offers to confirm the actual low bidders before final action. Maitland Brothers are likely the low bidder for the treatment plant and Johnson Brothers for the system leading to the town.

Second Lieutenant Eugene F Jones adjutant of the 2724th Air Base Squadron at Iwo Jima received a Letter of Commendation from Major General P E Reustow for outstanding service during Typhoon Louise. The island faced a devastating storm as the commendation noted.

Walter Hale of New Oxford and R C paid a total of 134 dollars in fines and costs on game law charges brought by John R Spahr district game protector. One count alleged attempting to kill a second deer after killing a legal one. Another alleged transporting wild deer without the required big game tag. Mrs J Walter Rohrbaugh of Hanover was jailed Dec 15 for driving without a license in immediate possession. Donald V Kessler of Gettysburg charged with reckless driving Dec 16. Edward Raber of Hanover R2 paid 2 dollars for allowing his son Mark to be illegally absent from school.
