The New Oxford Lions club hosts a Christmas party for children age 12 and under in New Oxford. The event at the Earl theatre this Saturday at 1 p m features a one hour show, a movie, and Santa Claus giving treats. Admission is free with no tickets needed.

The Adams County Library in Gettysburg celebrates four years with a New Oxford branch and ongoing weekly hours. It moved from the Miller building to the Livingston building, hosting 392 patrons and averaging 300 circulations monthly. Committee members include Charles E. Alwine CG Eicholtz Prof. C. P. Keefer Dr. G. N. Lauffer Mrs. Wim Himes Jr. Mrs. J. E. C. Miller Miss Mae Gilbert and Rev. George E. Sheffer with Rev. Sheffer as chair and Prof. Keefer as secretary-treasurer.
The Court House Christmas party was held this afternoon for county officials and staff. About 35 were to attend in the law library starting at 4 o'clock. Gifts were to be exchanged and Register and Recorder Harry D. Ridinger would lead group singing.
Harry E. Carbaugh of Gettysburg wheels waived a hearing before Justice Robert P. Snyder on fraudu lent conversion charges brought by John W. Eyler. Carbaugh was held for January court after arrest Friday by the Gettysburg state police substation and posting of $1,000 bail. Card of Thanks from the Rinehart family expresses gratitude for support and floral tributes after Mrs. Charles Rinehart’s illness and death.
Emmanuel's church at Abbottstown will present the cantata The Child of Bethlehem written by Louie Stairs under Miss Betty June Gremiaz. The choir will be joined by guest soloists Nancy Gable Pred Gable with sections from New Oxford East Berlin York and Abbottstown. A play Why We Have Christmas by Mrs George Hollinger precedes the cantata at 7 30 p m with tableaux leading to the Manger Scene. Services on Christmas Day include 9 a m worship and 10 a m Sunday school.

The New Oxford Social and Athletic Club elected Fred Kieck as president, Bernard Brashears vice president, Charles Carhauga second vice president, Robert Brothers secretary treasurer, and directors Joseph Kaiser Maurice Miller Harry Trone Allen Brashears and Henry C. Moore. The annual banquet was set for January 11 at the K of C hall MeSher town with dancing by Bob Brothers and his orchestra.
Melvin Bell of McSherrystown was cited by a state patrolman for failing to stop at a stop sign on December 18. Rodney Shaff of York faced charges for an improper pass on December 18. Samuel Fucker of Broadview Hanover received a traffic stop notice on December 18. CHRISTMAS PARTY The Ladies Auxiliary of the Trish town Fire Company held a party at Irishtown firehouse with sixty members and gifts exchanged. Harry Enict, a Princeton University student, spends Christmas with his parents. Pre Christmas sale continues this week at local shops offering chocolates and dresses, including Totn Teen Shop and Con Nies Restaurant.
A Christmas Eve carol sing will be held at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Oxford. The event invites all residents to join in singing familiar carols and participate in the communal celebration at the church.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services at St. Mars Church New Osford include midnight mass at 7:30 and 12:00 with a children's choir, special organ music by Mrs Thomas French, and decoration effects. First Evangelical Lutheran Church lists worship at 10:15 9:15 a.m. Sunday school. candlelight service 11:00 Christmas Eve with lessons Peace at Last. Adams County Child Welfare Services announced gifts have been secured for all 146 youngsters under the county welfare unit. Churches organizations and individuals donated about 50 dollars to buy presents, fulfilling long held wishes and, for one child, the gift of a home.
The St Pauls Ey-Ref church Youth Fellowship in New Oxford elected officers for 1950 Sunday evening. Betty Sheely was named president with Joan Smeitz as vice president Ronald Clousher as secretary and Robert Sowers as treasurer. Louis Sheely led devotions and Jothy Daum led carols. The study topic was The Birth of the Christ Child with slides by Rev A C Rohrbaugh. Sowers presided as retiring president and a Christmas party followed with games gift exchange and refreshments.
The St Pauls Chester St Johns Hampton and St Marks Heidlersburg congregations unite for a joint Christmas Day service at 10 a m hosted by St Mark s Heidlersburg. The program features carols, combined choir music, scripture readings, a meditation titled A Chance Missed, and the anthem Hark the Glad Sound by Stafford with a Cantique De Noel solo by Dale Ecker.
The annual Christmas party for the Willing Workers Sunday School class No 3 at the Methodist church was held at Mrs. G Mervin Spangler’s Lincolnway East home Tuesday evening with full attendance. Officers for the year were elected: Pres E C Carper. vice pres Howard Ecker. sec G W Sadler. treas Marks Wolford. teacher Melvin Spanzier. Gifts were exchanged and refreshments served. A marriage license was issued at the courthouse to Robert Eugene Kitemiller of Gettysburg and Peggy Marie LeGore of Gettysburg R 3.
Shooting matches are scheduled by the Hunterstown Gun Club on Christmas Monday at 1 p.m. and on New Year’s Monday at 1 p.m. Both events are open to members and guests with targets and safety rules in place.
