Two Women Die In York Fire
York, Feb 8. A young woman died trying to rescue her elderly mother as a house blaze trapped them on the second floor. Mrs Mary Emma Robertson 69 and Mrs Lauretta Griffith about 30 perished. Robertson’s son William B. Robertson suffered severe burns while Griffith and her son William escaped unharmed. The fire started on the second floor and both women were overcome by smoke at the top of the stairs.
