The St Pauls Re formed church Mite Society met at Mrs J Haversticks home Monday night and elected President Mrs Archie Rohrbaugh Vice President Mrs V Ralph Briller Secretary Mrs M R Freed and Treasurer Miss Ethel Sheely for 1949. Afterward members heard Christmas stories read by Mrs Rohrbaugh and Mrs E C Stough, joined in carols, and received gifts from Santa along with refreshments.

Remains of Pfc John N Gallagher husband of Annie Groft returned from the Carroll Victory to be buried in Conewago cemetery McSherrystown with military rites by Catholic War Veterans. Funeral at 8:30 am then 9 am Mass at Church of the Annunciation. Gallagher 20, killed January 6 1945 in Alsace France. survived by widow daughter Patricia Ann and son John N Gallagher Jr with parents and several siblings.

The Rev Clyde R Brown of Blairs Mills Pa was invited to become pastor of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church at a special meeting. The Rev Robert M Hunt will serve East Liberty Presbyterian Pittsburgh as minister of Christian Education after nearly five years here. Salary set at 3000 dollars annually with free manse and one month vacation.

Bernard Boose of Hanover was given 10 days for failing to keep right of the center of the highway after December 3. Sam Distefaro of York was apprehended December 5 for speeding and given a 10 day notice.

Richard N. Kuhn seaman USN, son of Mr and Mrs Paul Kuhn of Hanover street, is serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D Roosevelt cruising the Mediterranean as part of the Sixth Task Fleet. Mediterranean duty will allow visits to many European and African countries.

John W. Lucabaugh, 58, Berwick township farmer and master farmer, died Wednesday morning at Hanover General Hospital after a three week illness following a bear hunting trip. He served as a longtime school director and farm bureau leader, and was active in Adams County agriculture and politics. He leaves three children, nine grandchildren, a sister and a brother. Funeral services are Sunday at 1:30 pm at Feiser funeral home with further rites at Black Rock Meeting House burial in Lineboro Maryland.
Charles Ray Keller of Hampton pled guilty to arson before Justice John H Basehore and was jailed after a fire on November 16 destroyed a two family home a mile north of Hampton. Eight people including four children lost their home as Red Cross aid helped the families. Keller and Mrs Keller are siblings of Clyde Weaver whose family also lived in the house.
New Oxford high cagers defeated Manchester high 34 27 on Manchester court to notch their second win in three starts. Jayvees also won 16 13 in a preliminary game. New Oxford hosts Dover tonight and travels to Scotland Thursday.

Damage totaling 150 dollars resulted from a collision in Hanover Friday evening between automobiles driven by Dorothy S Crabbs of Hanover and Harry Luckenbaugh of Hanover Street New Oxford. Luckenbaugh stopped for a preceding left turn, and the Crabbs car struck its rear.

Robert Poist of New Oxford R D 1 was injured in a Wednesday crash when his car, traveling west, struck a parked vehicle owned by Francis Cratin of 527 Main Street. Police say Poist dozed at the wheel. the Cratin car was pushed into a fire hydrant, damaging both vehicles and the hydrant.
A Christmas event drew many children to the Helen L Price infants wear shop in Gettysburg. Santa Claus handed out candy and greeted youngsters as recorded music played for the pre Christmas celebration.
