Advisory Council Discusses Taxes in Adams County
The Lower Adams Advisory Council met Tuesday at the home of Mr and Mrs Ray Myers Abbottstown. They discussed farming losses offsetting nonfarm income and three possible positions on tax treatment. Some urge keeping the current rule to spur farm capital, others call it a loophole taxing losses as ordinary income, and a third view targets high nonfarm earners with stricter recordkeeping and taxation when losses are recovered. The administration proposal would apply only to nonfarm income above 15 000 annually, with others proposing 50 000 to 100 000.

Lott And Fair Appointed To District Board
Robert C. Lott of Aspers and Harrison G. Fair of York Springs were appointed to the Adams County Soil Conservation District for four-year terms. Lott, a longtime district officer, was elected president of the Pennsylvania association at Uniontown. Fair was appointed after new commissioners took office in January. The county received 2000 from the state for 4 H club work, to be allotted to the County Agricultural Extension Association. The surveyor was directed to locate the new home of Alden P. Gleason near Girl Scout Camp Happy Valley near the boundary line with Hamiltonian and Liberty Twos.

Seven Hurt In Saturday Crash Near York Springs
A two-vehicle collision on Hanover Road two miles south of York Springs at 2:30 PM injured seven people. Eugene Jacoby and his wife Mildred of Gardners both sustained head and body injuries, and Charles Moore of New Oxford along with his four children Barbara Deborah Philip and Jacqueline were treated for lacerations and bruises. The injured were transported to Warner Hospital by York Springs ambulance.

Utility Company Extends Policy On Pole Attachments
