Jacob W. Taughinbaugh lifelong Straban Township resident will celebrate his 100th birthday on December 7 at the home of his granddaughter Mrs. Richard Kammerer.
Seven defendants pleaded guilty before Justice of the Peace Claude Straley in New Oxford for disorderly conduct. one for reckless driving. The melee began around 11:15 pm on November 19 in Center Square, left a man stabbed and others injured. fines ranged from 10 to 25 dollars plus costs. The case details remain disputed among participants and officials.

Miss Marjorie Ann Greenebaum and Leonard Adler united in a Sunday afternoon ceremony at the Greenebaum home in Harrisburg. The rite featured a piano recital, a blue and brown wedding attire, and a reception for family and guests from New York, Washington, Harrisburg and Lewistown. The couple will reside at 439 South Main Lewistown after trips and both hold notable education and work backgrounds.
Luther M. Lady of Butler township was re elected president of the Adams County Board of School Directors at a dinner meeting at his home near Beecherstown. Rowe M. Martin was named first vice president and M. S. Hershey re elected second vice president. The board approved a Littlestown five room east wing plan and a $62,200 building program.
The Forty Hours Devotions at Immaculate Conception church New Oxford closed with solemn benediction and procession of the Blessed Sacrament. Fr Edward Banks C P Baltimore preached the final sermon and priests from nearby parishes participated. Holy Name society members and acolytes joined in the service.

Carl S Menchey successful candidate for county treasurer spent 667.16 with 600 to Republican committee and the rest for advertising and printing. Dorsey J Shultz sheriff spent 674.50 with the remainder for advertising and printing. Discharged patients at Warner hospital include Barbara Ann Kerrigan Mrs Bernard Chrismer and infant daughter Mrs Lily McGuigan.
Gettysburg Adams County Red Cross chapter at its annual dinner elected eight new directors and re elected four board members. The new directors include Mrs. Charles W. Pitzer and Radford H. Lippy of Gettysburg Mrs. J Willis Weigle Biglerville Mrs. Ryland Garrettson Bendersville Mrs. William M Lott Gardner s R 1 and others. Harry D Ridinger County Clerk and Richard E Dreas named fund drive co chairmen for 1950 with Mrs Henry M Scharf publicity chairman. Directors will choose officers next week.
Ray H. Simmons of Mechanicsburg filed a clemency petition with the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons seeking to commute his death sentence for the murder of Herbert Humpert. He contends that Robert Staley planned the robbery and that Staley’s actions justify reducing punishment. District Attorney Daniel E. Teeter confirmed receipt of a copy of the application.
Hanover announces a Friday parade featuring thirty floats from eleven churches and fourteen clubs and civic groups plus three special floats. Grover Gouker Jr. is general chairman and Rodger Leister chairs the parade committee. The lineup forms on East Chestnut Street at 7 15 p m with judges atop the Hotel Richard McAlister marquee selecting winners.

Philip Fostano of Baltimore was apprehended November 22 for operating an overweight truck and given a ten day notice.
A Sunday turkey dinner was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clark Center Square with A J Clark family members from Hanover and New Oxford. Sandra Clark visited from Hanover. Generals Devers guests were Lewis and Arthur Sheets at the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia. Robert Livelsberger and Miriam Rodgers received a marriage license in court.
The VFW post and LadiesAuxiliary host a Monday 8 pm gathering in the Gold room of their new Pleasant Street building Hanover inviting the public. The New Oxford Lions plan a December 14 turkey party at 8 pm in New Oxford High School auditorium with turkeys as prizes and a door prize of a country ham. Proceeds aid the community playground project.
On December 3 Luther Lobaugh offers a 34 acre farm and personal property located one half mile northwest of Biglerville. Also on December 3 Russell H. Smith lists livestock farming and poultry equipment and household goods at his farm two miles south of Dillsburg.
