Two Cars In Odd Accident Near Gettysburg

Two cars collided on the Gettysburg Harrisburg road eight miles north of Gettysburg at 12:30 AM Monday. Charles W. Smith of Gettysburg pushed his disabled car when Delma Bobo of York Springs struck the rear, injuring Smith and others. Bobo suffered facial lacerations, knee and chest contusions, with the Bobo driver less seriously hurt. Damages were estimated at 1000 for the Bobo car and 250 for the Smith vehicle.

Swope Family Sells 8 Acre Gettysburg Parcel to Reavers

Samuel F. and Ruth E. Swope with Julius and Charlotte W. Swope of Gettysburg sell an 8acre tract at the corner of West Confederate Avenue and Pumping Station Road. The property includes a dwelling a restaurant a souvenir stand and cabins. Paul S. Reaver and Dorothy M. Reaver of Gettysburg R D acquire it with possession set for September 1. John C. Former York group head aids cerebral palsy children

Mrs Preston L. Smith of Loganville now leads the York Cerebral Palsy Society. She spoke on a York radio program about children with cerebral palsy and the need for a publicly funded York school for disabled youngsters to remain with their families while receiving education. Easter Seal sales will fund much of this work next year.

Graveside rites for Pfc James H McIlhenny in Evergreen

Graveside services were held at Evergreen cemetery for Pfc James H McIlhenny whose body returned from St Avold France for burial. He was killed in action in Germany in March 1945. Rev Robert M Hunt officiated and pallbearers included Franklin R Bigham Richard Kammerer William M Lott John K Lott Robert C Lott and Richard Schwartz.

Conewago Two Teachers Named at Sand Hill Board Meeting

At a Conewago township school board meeting in Sand Hill, President Bernard Smith oversaw the election of Essie Wertz to the teaching staff and Ruth L. Kump as supervisor. Assistant County Superintendent Raffensperger attended. Schools reopen Sept 8 with 8:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. sessions for about 212 pupils.

Plane crew reports container falls from aircraft over farm

A report to police states a container fell from a plane flying over a farm around 10 o'clock Friday morning. The incident is being investigated for potential damage and responsibility.
