Election Board Members Get Pay Increase
Adams County election officials will receive higher pay for November's general election after the state legislature enacted a new pay scale. Judges of election rise from 10 to 12 dollars per day, inspectors and clerks from 1 to 10 dollars, and constables from 5 to 8 dollars. Pay scales depend on votes. maximum 35 dollars, with districts voting up to 1,000. The changes were approved by county commissioners at the courthouse.

Two McSherrystown Collisions Cause $1,140 Damage
Two automobile accidents in McSherrystown Wednesday caused $1,140 in damages. Robert J. Wierman, 70, collided with Robert B. Felty Jr., 16, at North and Oxford Avenues during light rain. A second crash at Fifth and Main involved Ann M. Gray, 37, and John L. Lawrence, 28, with $240 total damage. Police Chief Masemer investigated. Judith A. Tragic Cross Keys Crash Kills Woman. Husband Hurt
Mrs Noel C Taylor 22 of Adams County and her husband Noel Calvin Taylor 23 of Downingtown were in a Lincoln Highway crash near Cross Keys. Mrs Taylor died instantly from a broken neck and internal injuries. Mr Taylor was seriously hurt. Driver Lorna Lee Booker 35 of Baltimore and five others were injured and Booker was charged with involuntary manslaughter before a justice and released on bail. The Taylors had traveled from New Oxford after attending a football game in Hershey.
