Sheriff Sale of 80 Acre Adams County Farm in 1930

The property includes 80 acres in Cumberland Township with improvements a 2 story stone house bank barn silo packing house wagon shed hog pen chicken houses and other outbuildings plus 20 acres of apple and fruit land. Commission Approves Bell Cumberland Valley Phone Merger

The Interstate Commerce Commission approved the transfer of properties between Bell Telephone and Cumberland Valley Telephone in Pennsylvania. Hearing was June 27 in Washington with objections withdrawn. the actions aim to improve service and public interest. Each company will discontinue local exchange service in parts of the territory and sell plant to the other, consolidating the systems.

Ocker Hotel Property Seized for Sheriff Sale in Littlestown

In Adams County a hotel property at Center Square Littlestown is seized under a writ of execution. The 3 story stucco building with service station and a tailors shop occupies lot No 1 on North Queen Street, formerly owned by Fannie H. Starr Ebaugh, to be sold July 18 1930 by the Gettysburg Sheriff.

Facias issued from the Court of Common Pleas of Adams County direct a public sale on Saturday August 9 1930 at 2 PM at the Court House Gettysburg PA. Bell to retire from counties in intercounty telephone deal

Bell will retire from Adams Franklin Juniata and Perry counties and parts of Cumberland Fulton and York counties and sell plants to Cumberland Valley for 1 218 000 dollars. Cumberland Valley will retire from Dauphin Lebanon Mifflin and Snyder counties and part of Cumberland and buy back for 796 135 dollars. On book investment Cumberland Valley parts with about one third of its properties.

In a staged transfer totaling 422,655 in value, Bell will receive common and 6 percent preferred stock while acquiring 12 000 duplicate stations and eliminating 1 600 duplicates in the Cumberland Valley area. 17 000 Cumberland Valley stations gain toll access to Bell system. No independent telephone connections disturbed. Cumberland Valley gains 34 private branch exchange switchboards and 17 central office units.
