A large and enthusiastic convention of nearly twelve hundred delegates chose Berritt G. Mechem as the Republican nominee for every elective office. The selection emphasizes capable and qualified men placed on the ticket.
The Republican convention in Albuquerque on Tuesday approved temporary officers, heard H O Bursum as keynote, and elected Judge Mechem as gubernatorial nominee after a protracted balloting. Manuel Martinez and Safford were acclaimed for secretary of state and state senator, while Frank Carns nominated Charles U Strong for renomination. Other officers and committees were chosen, with George K R Craig as chair and Adelina Otero-Warren as interim leader of the campaign effort.

Governor Larrazolo accepted Merrit C. Mechem’s resignation as seventh district judge and named Felix Tracy of Albuquerque to fill the vacancy through January 1, 1971. Republican delegates from the district met and nominated Harry Po Owen of Los Lunas for the balance of the term and TL Nisholay of Socorro for district duties.
The state reports several articles of incorporation filed this week including Farm Bureau Marketing Association of Las Cruces with authorized capital of 100000 dollars, divided into 4000 shares of 25 dollars each. 3000 dollars subscribed by listed investors. Attorney General O C Askren notes passage of the nineteenth amendment grants women voting rights in elections.
The state supreme court on Friday upheld civil court decisions in Bernalillo and Dona Ana counties. In Bernalillo, Stockmen's Gasranty Loan Company v Sevur aches and American Trust Company and Lacings Bank v over a pole dispute remained affirmed.
