District Judge James Musgrove dismissed all charges against former McKinley County Sheriff Harold Bass after ruling the grand jury indictment for conspiracy and marijuana distribution was improperly obtained. The ruling cited missing testimony from a Valencia County grand jury, potential involvement of co-defendants, and concerns over Delgado's prior federal testimony. Marsh and Delgado face separate trials in August.

Gallup welcomes new Civil Air Patrol commander Ed Helmick who says search and rescue is CAP’s main duty alongside aerospace education and cadet programs. CAP, an Air Force auxiliary, operates with local squadrons in Farmington and Gallup, trains radio and ground crews, and funds some missions.
