Smuggling case opens in district court over Bass links
Testimony began Tuesday in the district court trial of former McKinley County Sheriff Harold Bass 34 of Thoreau charged with conspiracy to distribute and distribution of marijuana in a 1978 smuggling attempt near Thoreau. Co-defendants include Albert Marsh 27 of Gallup and Gilbert Delgado 30 of Albuquerque. A fingerprint expert said prints at the scene did not match Bass. Witnesses described the scene including a shoeprint photo and a crash landing of a plane linked to the operation. Gallup Council eases ban on trailer replacements
In a 4 1 vote the Gallup City Council amended an ordinance to allow replacing grandfathered trailer homes under the 1974 law.
