Mine workers rally to host UMWA president visit
Cecil Roberts, international president of the United Mine Workers of America, is due Monday to visit pickets at the McKinley Mine and speak at an 8:30 a.m. rally at Local 1332’s office near Window Rock. The UMWA praised workers for striking over rejected employer proposals and urged fair contract negotiations. It’s unclear if Roberts will meet Navajo Nation President Kelsey Begaye or Steve Parker during the visit.

WINDOW ROCK The Navajo Nation Council may convene a one-day special session to appropriate $1 million from the Undesignated Reserve.
