FBI hosts Gallup town hall to explain outreach efforts

FBI agents from Gallup and Albuquerque met about two dozen residents at the Metro Dispatch Center to describe agency roles and address rumors. US Attorney Ken Gonzales joined, with Rodney Miller saying the event aimed to start a dialogue after limited outreach in Gallup.

Sawmill man faces murder charge in missing person case

Joseph Duncan of Sawmill is to face federal murder charges in Flagstaff District Court for the death of Gabriel Scott on April 7. Duncan claims the shooting was an accident during a drunken dispute over a handgun. Scott was reported missing by his sister on April 1 after dropping him at Duncan's residence. she had not heard from him since April 7 when she says he left on foot.

Wallow Fire Becomes Arizona's Largest Ever Wildfire

The Wallow Fire in Arizona grew to 469 407 acres, surpassing 2002 Rodéo Chediski Fire as the largest in state history. Authorities traced the blaze to an unattended campfire near Alpine on May 29 and reported containment at 20 percent by Tuesday night after earlier 10 percent. The fire threatened Greer and Nutrioso as it burned across forestland.

Council mulls leasing or selling Gallup fitness center

Navajo Nation’s Office of Management and Budget moves to a new approach for the FY2012 budget. Executive Director Dominic Beyal says branches will identify overall Navajo Nation priorities to guide allocations. Timely submission on travel reimbursement, indirect costs, fringe benefits, and workers’ compensation was required by the budget office.
