Miss Miriam Wenger daughter of Mr and Mrs Eli D Wenger of Blue Ball married Dr John M Martin son of Mr and Mrs Abrant H Martin of Marietta in a 4 PM ceremony at the bride’s home. Bishop Irvin W Musser assisted by Bishop John M Lauder conducted the rites. The couple will reside in Chester where Dr Martin will join Dr Galen S Young.
Mrs. Phillip E. Brubaker expresses gratitude to friends and neighbors and to the St. Stephen Reformed Chancel Choir the Ladies Aid Society the Open Door Sunday School class and the Ladies Auxiliary of Liberty Fire Company for flowers fruit cards and personal visits during her shut in days.
A June 29 1889 notice reports Harry H Kurtz and J H Bair of Salisbury township received a patent for a new lock for nuts of carriage spindles. The item uses a hinged arm and slots on the nut face to lock it when fully screwed home, with a protective plate over joints.
District Governor Harry R Lenker of York presided at the New Holland Lions Club installation for 1939 40 at Legion Home marking a historic first by a district governor The retiring president Irwin R Weaver received the Past President emblem and the club showcased reports of its year amid attendance pins and multiple new club presidencies and community service projects.
Elizabeth M Weaver widow of Martin G Weaver died at home Wednesday evening at 8 55 from infirmities of age. She was 77 and a New Holland Mennonite church member. Survived by daughter Lydia G Martin and two step children F Viola Diffenbaugh and Clarence R Weaver, plus three grandchildren and sister Lydia Stauffer. Funeral Saturday at 2 00 at home and 2 30 at Weaverland Mennonite church with interment in adjoining cemetery. Friends may call Friday 7 9 p.m.
George N. Weaver, 75, died at 5 45 p m Tuesday at his Terre Hill home. Survived by wife Louisa and children Lillian Reel and Park of Terre Hill, Herman of Detroit, and Clara Weaver of Reading. Funeral from Terre Hill home Saturday at 1 30 p m with services at Terre Hill Evangelical Church at 2 p m. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Call from 7 to 9 p m Friday at the home.
Lizzie Reifsnyder eighty five died at 11 a m Sunday at her Terre Hill home. Survived by son William Flickinger of Terre Hill brother John Reifsnyder of Ephrata seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Private services held at 1 30 p m Wednesday from the home with public services at Center Church at 2 p m Interment in adjoining cemetery
Mrs Anna E Wanner seventy nine widow of J Alfred Wanner died at her home in Salisbury township near Pequea Presbyterian church at 1 p m Tuesday from a complication of diseases. She was a daughter of Christian and Margaret Eby. Survived by sons Samuel E and D Ira Honey Brook Star Route John C Gap R D 1 and Elva W Snyder at home nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment at Pequea Presbyterian Church.
Martin L. DeHaven ninety two died at 2 15 p m Friday at his home in Monganibown He was a retired farmer and the last of his family He farmed the Pool Forge farm near Churchtown for a number of years.
