Tragedy in Blue Ball Claims Richard Eaby on Route 23
Richard William Eaby seventeen of Blue Ball was killed instantly when his motor bike was struck by a cattle truck on Route 23 East New Holland while enroute to work. Willis G. Shirk of Blue Ball swerved to avoid him but the right rear wheel passed over the youth. Eaby, a New Holland High School graduate, excelled in mathematics served as class treasurer and was active in track soccer basketball and Glee Club. He planned engineering studies at Carnegie Tech and worked for New Holland Machine Company. Funeral services were held at Esbenshade Funeral Home and interment followed at Bridgeville Evangelical Cemetery.
