The New Holland High School Alumni Association held its annual banquet at the New Holland House with about fifty attendees. The program featured games music and a class presentation by Emily C Longenecker and Adam H Martin with J Earl Weaver replying for graduates. Souvenir silk American flags were distributed as festivities continued late into the night.

New Holland Youth Enlists in Marine Corps
William Bair, son of Mr and Mrs Jason D Bair of West Main Street, enlisted Tuesday and left Wednesday morning for Philadelphia to join the United States Marine Corps as a musician. Expected to be assigned to Brooklyn. A lively member of the St Stephen Reformed church and longtime umpire in the Lancaster County Baseball League, he will be missed in the community.

Large Strawberry Short Cake Delights Printing House Crew
The Clarion Printing House staff received a surprise on Wednesday afternoon a large strawberry short cake sent by Mrs Augustus Weiler of Eugene. The cake was ample enough for every member of the force and even Hlenner the marine could have shared a slice. The crew expresses thanks to Mrs Weiler for the treat.

Finely Equipped Bakery Reopens in Expanded Plant
A rebuilt Phoenix like bakery rises from Wright fire with brick structure of three stories and basement. It features a bread mixing room with high speed mixer, auto sieve, conveyors, three large ovens with 3,000 loaves capacity each per twelve hours, a packing room, wagon shed, and a sixteen horse power boiler supplying heating and dust control. Eight bakers, two helpers, one shipping clerk, one utility man and five drivers are employed, with distribution by auto, rail, and trolley to nearby towns and cities.

Rousing Patriot Meeting Aims War Support At Harner Theatre
A patriotic meeting in Harner’s Theatre drew a near full house despite a Monday storm. Speakers urged enlistment in the US Marine service, fund drive for the War Hut, and care for soldiers through Red Cross and Y M C A efforts. The event raised over $57 for the War Hut Fund.
Harner's Theatre Presents Vitagraph Features for Charity
On Wednesday evening Harner's Theatre showed The Man of Mystery, a Vitagraph release, with half the net proceeds going to the local Red Cross Society. This Saturday another Vitagraph feature Her Right to Live will run, followed next Wednesday by Whom the Gods Destroy, a patriotic drama, with War Hat night and half the net proceeds benefiting War Hat fund.

The intermediate school of this boro under teacher Mies Elsie R Fenninger held an outing on the banks of Mill Creek near Musselman's Mill on Wednesday afternoon. Students enjoyed an excellent luncheon and games, returning in high glee though somewhat tired from the afternoon romp.
