Gifts for Vets Presented by Auxiliary
The Auxiliary of Conestoga Post No 662 American Legion sent ten care boxes to veterans at Coatesville Hospital. Each box contains hose, ties, handkerchiefs, paper and envelopes, playing cards, candy, a pencil, plus a cash donation to Perry Point Maryland. They provided clothing for two needy children and gifts for eight local orphans, with two baskets for needy families. The New Holland Auxiliary surpassed its membership goal and earned a national citation. The Christmas committee includes Mrs R M Kochel Mrs Harry Dion Mrs Amos Zuck and Mrs Paul Stone. A pledge remains to donate fifty pounds of candy to Contesville hospital in March. In January twenty pounds of candy will go to Peirs Point veterans.

Two Boys Sentenced for Manslaughter Crash
Jesse Fisher and Aaron Riehl both sixteen were convicted of involuntary manslaughter last Thursday. Judge Benjamin C. Atlee sentenced them Saturday to the Huntingdon Reformatory for placing a forty five foot telephone pole across a highway near Mascot, causing the death of Noah Zook nineteen of Bareville. The Monterey youths were mercy-recommended by the jury.

Peter F Plank Dies at 86 Residing With Beartown Neighbor
Peter F Plank, aged 86, died Wednesday at 4 30 am at the home of Amos F Weaver in Beartown where he had resided for two years. He formerly lived in New Holland and was a member of the Intercourse United Brethren church. Surviving are two sons Abraham W of New Holland and Park L of Downingtown, and a sister Anna M Plank of Lancaster. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 pm from the Esbenshade Funeral Home with interment in the Intercourse United Brethren cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.
