Firemen Misfire in Town Fire Call Mixup
A Terre Hill resident suffered a fire scare last week as Terre Hill firemen sent an SOS to Goodville. Chief Burkhart and assistant George Witman rushed to the scene, but the Goodville engine failed to arrive. The two men guided an empty hose and waited for a non existent engine while a confused chase unfolded, ending with a inebriated bystander noting the oddity.

Woman Injured by Gas Blast in Blue Ball Restaurant
Mrs. Floyd Yoder, 22, of Blue Ball, an employee at the New Holland House Restaurant, suffered shock and burns to her face and arms when attempting to light a gas burner. A match failed to light, the second ignited escaping gas, causing an explosion that shattered a window but caused no other damage. She was hospitalized and reported improving after treatment.
