Railroad ends Lancaster to Downingtown passenger run after long dispute
After more than two years of conflict between Pennsylvania Railroad officials and Lancaster and Chester County residents, the Public Service Commission approved discontinuing daily passenger service on the Lancaster and Downingtown Branch. The line may resume mail handling and shift to a milk train between Lancaster and Honey Brook with limited express on freight trains. The commission cited adequate service by Conestoga Traction and Blue Ball to Honey Brook busines, while ordering a new road along the south side of the New Holland Branch to fix a narrow bridge west of Honey Brook. The Highway Department will fund the road, with the railroad reimbursing $17,500 of the total cost.

Mrs Fannie E Baby Martin widow of Tobias W Martin died at John M Groff home near Farmersville Wednesday evening after a ten week illness aged 73. She was a Mennonite and survived by several stepchildren and nieces or nephews. The funeral was held at the Groftdale Mennonite Church with services at 1 30 and interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Two Fires Spark Alarm in Borough
Two small blazes caused excitement on Tuesday in this borough. At 11:30 a gasoline stove ignited at Frank Wolf’s North Custer Avenue home, smoke badly filling the kitchen but the fire was put out before Liberty Fire Company arrived. Several hundred farmers attended the second annual meeting of New Holland Dairies Inc in the Farmers National Bank building. Officers elected include President John H.
