The New Holland Boys Band will perform a benefit concert on Saturday evening August 23 on the lawn of the Clarion Office East Main street in this borough. The outdoor season runs to mid October with many engagements already booked for next year. Obituary of Winfield Ramsey of Bird-in-Hand
Winfield Ramsey aged 82 of Bird-in-Hand died Thursday at St. Joseph hospital Lancaster from a brain hemorrhage. He retired from farming and is survived by wife Lydia a son William of Philadelphia and daughter Mrs Clifford Kreider of Lancaster. Funeral services were held Sunday at the late home and Christchurch east of Intercourse at 2 pm with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Thousands Attend Legion Festival and Fireworks Display
A near five thousand crowd filled streets and a wheat field parking area for Conestoga Post No. 662 Ninth Annual Legion Festival and Fireworks in August. Chicken corn soup, sandwiches, watermelon and ice cream sold fast as music from the New Holland Boys Band and Atglen Band played under John H. Baldwin. Fireworks lasted an hour and gate prizes of 25, 15 and 10 dollars went to Florence Bair Paul Ranch and John Reeser.
