Indiana Democratic Platform Resolutions 1870
The Democratic platform adopted in Indiana on the highth day of January 1870 declares the Federal Union must be preserved, the Supreme Court independence safeguarded, and opposes centralized despotism. It calls for a revenue tariff, greenbacks over bonds, abolition of the National Bank system, and no expansion of naturalization limits or Know-Nothing influence. It also denounces the fifteenth amendment and demands tax equalization on bank shares.
