Hovey Monument Commission Won By Local Dealer
P J Burns of Vincennes secured the order for a grand Gov Hovey monument after consulting heirs in Mt Vernon. The piece will feature two bases a heavy die block with a life governor bas relief profile and a large bronze flag cast in standard bronze. It will rest on dark Barre granite weighing over eight tons for the base and nearly seventeen tons for the die block. Burns earned the contract over rivals due to experience and state ties. He will operate from New Harmony with George Franklin in charge of marble and granite stock. Franklin will handle orders with prompt attentive service.
