The local Iroquois Tribe No. 98 of the Red Men has organized a major Fourth of July event in New Castle. They plan to dedicate pew quarters in the Maxim building and lead a patriotic celebration with broad community participation and acts of charity.
A church damaged by a storm a year ago reached a settlement after a lengthy trial. The case ended with a jury verdict for the full policy amount.
Dr. F A Balser a well known veterinary surgeon is in serious condition after being kicked in the abdomen by a colt that broke loose from its hitching post. He has since been confined to bed though his condition has somewhat improved.
Ed T White, a prominent insurance and real estate dealer, will wed Rose Cook of Richmond on Wednesday evening June 3 at 6 o clock at the bride’s home. Ollie J Lisher married Flora F Griffith was the only license issued today. Commissioners reappointed John W Beall for a further two year term as county infirmary superintendent. his service has been satisfactory.
Dave Shultz paid his fine this morning for selling liquor unlawfully. He was arrested after a Sunday sale and charged with violating the liquor law. At today’s trial he pleaded guilty and the usual assessment was imposed.
