Drowning in Slippery Rock Creek At McConnells Mill State Park
Beaver County man William A. Presto, 20, of Baden, died while rafting on Slippery Rock Creek when his raft struck a rock and capsized between the Covered and Eckert Bridges. His leg was tied to the raft, trapping him as the current carried him under. Fire departments recovered his body about 4 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene by county coroner Howard H. Reynolds. Presto worked for Sauvers Trucking Co. of Cranberry Township and was among a party of about 16 in three rafts. the others swam to safety. He leaves two brothers and a sister.
