Debtor nations are urged to present concrete debt proposals to the United States as Europe seeks downward revisions. An unoccupied storeroom doorway hosts a man and his wife this morning.

Restell's wife reportedly offered to leave him for Roche but he declined. Roche's father Dr A C Roche of Calumet Mich arrived for the inquest and had been warned to move his daughter from Chicago.
A government dredge left Charleroi to aid the Monongahela search for bodies of Roy Crouch 18 Raymond Crouch 17 and John Mantus 15 all from Stockdale. They drowned when their rowboat capsized after waves from a passing barge.
The graduating class asked the school board to move the baccalaureate sermon to the Cathedral with expenses paid by the class. The board approved conditionally, forbidding solicitation. if funds exist in treasury or are raised without solicitation, the service will be held there.

Norman Moore a 25 year old amateur wrestler confessed to starting the $2,000,000 fire that destroyed 200 buildings and left 300 homeless near Ellsworth Maine. Sheriff Hal Hodgkins said the arson claim came as Moore arrived under guard at Hancock county jail amid a hostile crowd of about 500. A 100 strong National Guard detachment with fixed bayonets guarded the jail to prevent a lynching.
Chicago today paid its employees 1.9 million dollars in salaries for the last two weeks of January. The payment was raised through the efforts of the late Mayor Cermak and City Controller M. S. Szymczak in cooperation with the Dewey committee. A second payday is expected soon for the first two weeks of February.
The unidentified woman was recovered from Maumee Bay near Point Place today. Authorities believed she is Mrs. Mae Wetzel, thought to have drowned with her husband in the Maumee River last week.
Ugo Travaglia petty officer in the Italian navy was executed in a military prison today after a secret trial for selling naval plans and intelligence to a French agent. He was blindfolded strapped to a chair and a fusillade executed the sentence.
L A Haven of Cleveland Ohio reports the death of 20 month old Helen Duda of 110 Ralph Avenue. The brief notice lists the child’s age and residence with no further details.
Gaston Means testifies in a crowded Washington court that he knew who kidnapped the Lindbergh baby and where the money went. He defends against a $35 000 fraud charge to Evalyn Walsh McLean and a separate $190 000 fraud case while serving a 15 year Atlanta term. Accomplice Norman Whitaker stands trial with him.
Police search for the killer or killers of Edward A. Ridley and his secretary Lee Weinstein. Both men were found shot to death in Ridley’s sub cellar office on the lower east side. A former secretary Herman Moench was killed in the same cellar two years earlier. A cousin said Ridley had received threatening letters for over two years.
