Union approves budget with no tax increase
The Union Area school board adopted an 11.550.876 million budget for 2015 16 with no tax increase. The vote was 8 0, absent president John Bertolino. The plan draws 330,000 from reserves leaving 2.67 million in fund balance near 3 million. Major rise in pension costs 1.25 million plus health care and wage increases funded by budget. New technology initiatives include iPad expansion and a Chrome book program with zSpace machines. Robin Nogay named middle high school principal starting July 1 2015 at 78 000. several personnel and contract actions approved including insurer and substitutes.
