New Castle Native Part of Guinness Surfing Record
Frank Pazak, 53, a Huntington Beach Toyota salesman and former New Castle High football player, helped 66 surfers ride a 42 by 11 foot board to set a world record for most people on a surfboard and claim the largest surfboard title during Huntington Beach’s century celebration. Pazak, who moved to California after leaving New Castle in 1987, said the event required no practice but a safety plan as lifeguards towed the giant board and spectators cheered as the surfers balanced for 13 seconds.

Court voids law aiding NRA gun challenges
A Commonwealth Court ruling struck down a late session law that let gun owners and groups like the NRA challenge local firearms ordinances without showing harm. The decision says the process violated the state constitution, as municipalities had already repealed many gun rules and several Democrats and cities had sued to block the measure.
