Cat asks whether to apply the hand brake before or after putting a 2003 Mini Cooper with automatic transmission in park. Tom and Ray explain both methods can work. They advise that applying the parking brake before park helps prevent the pawl from jamming and note the creak is the brake grabbing, not a danger.
