New Castle City Council approved a three year contract with Direct Energy to supply natural gas to the Lawrence County Gas Consortium at a 20 percent price cut with rates set at 3.12 per unit for Nov 1 2019 through Oct 2020. The nine to ten dilapidated city houses received a single bid of 71 500 from Siegel Excavating. A vacant Woodland Avenue lot sold to Kelly A Berie for 500 with multi agency approval. Council also backed handicapped parking spaces and consolidation projects while tabling several zoning and overlay ordinances. A 79 713 33 grant was authorized for storm work on Neshannock Extension and additional funds approved for Sutton Street sewer repairs after a sinkhole. An M 1 to C 1 rezoning proposal failed to pass.
