Investigators report seven smallpox cases in Neshannock township near New Castle. Infected residents including Herbert Roberts and G A Cochran served on the election board during primaries. Quarantines extended to Drake and Sickafuse households as health officials pursue further findings.
Alfred Saidie, an Italian resident of 158 Pearson Street, was stabbed in a drunken free for all with countrymen. He walked to police to report the assault and is hospitalized in serious but non fatal condition. The attacker fled and no arrests have been made.
J. W. Conn was arrested Monday on a serious charge of crime against morals brought by Margaret Stevenson for her 15 year old daughter. The offense is alleged to have occurred Sunday evening. Conn posted bail for a hearing before Alderman Williams and denies the charge as spite driven. He had earlier been prosecutor in a larceny case against James H. Stevenson, the girl’s father, who received a year in the penitentiary on that charge plus others. The arrest stirred Edenburg, where Conn had a trusted reputation.
Members of the Sons of Italy resort to firearms during a tense confrontation described as a desperate fight. No injuries are detailed in the text.
Louise Hess provoked a chaotic clash with officers on Sheephill as Charles Thomas and W. H. Hays, both blind, were handcuffed together and escaped into high weeds. Hess and others were jailed pending a hearing before Alderman Mayne on assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

Garry Lavan of Sharon becomes superintendent of the two blast furnaces at La Belle Steel in Steubenville Ohio. He previously ran furnaces at Republic Iron and Steel in Birmingham Alabama and two stacks in Swedeland Pennsylvania. The Steubenville post was formerly held by M C Steese of Youngstown husband of Mrs Ray Andrews Steese of this city.
The Mahoningtown Presbyterian Sunday school cantata Summer Time presented for Children's Day earned strong praise and will be repeated Tuesday evening. A rehearsal is set for Tuesday at 2 o'clock.

At his home 611 State street John Ritchey an aged resident died Saturday afternoon from apoplexy superinduced by fever He was born December 12 1829 in Armstrong county and lived a retired life in the city He was a Mason of Kittanning lodge He is survived by four children George Ritchey Wynola Cal Mrs Cora Covert Union township John L Ritchey and Dr E C Ritchey of Pittsburg Funeral services were held Sunday evening at 7 30 Rev B E Higley officiating Music was provided by Miss Sara Dana Falls Miss Helen Urmson and Messrs Harry Urmson and James Hess The remains were shipped Monday morning to Allegheny for interment.
The Almira Home Association invites the public to the opening of the new annex on Wednesday June 26. A reception and supper will be held in the dining room from 5 to 8 o clock featuring beef roast macaroni and cheese salad bread cake ice cream and coffee priced at 35 cents. After serving the supper the home inmates will move into the new quarters.

Rev W G McConnell is in Clarksville planning Western Pennsylvania Presbyterian day at Cascade Park on July 26. The proprietor and 12 men were arrested at a drink fest at Andy Kreefer's home on Scioto Street Sunday night. the former paid 265 forfeited while others remain jailed.
Rev. Wilbur F Meminger of Tyrone Pa arrives in the city and will conduct special services each evening for ten days starting Tuesday at the Hoover Heights Tabernacle the site of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
An Italian boy believed from Brier Hill Ohio was put off a P and L E train at West Pittsburg Sunday. He was brought to New Castle and is now at Captain Grainger's home.
