In Uniontown Pennsylvania a special weekend session was set for the murder trial of John Galayda 38 of Monessen one of two suspects in the gangland style killing of Anthony Scotcher a Morgan town West Virginia nightclub operator The second suspect John Krukar of Youngstown Ohio was found shot to death near Logan West Virginia earlier this year Detective John Hammer was to resume testimony He said Krukar's wife Carol directed officers to a spot near Routes 119 and 73 in West Virginia to find a floor mat Galayda had taken from Scotcher's car Scotcher was shot four times in the back of the head January 6 and his body found in the trunk of his car at a Pittsburgh area motel Galayda was arrested March 18 but turned over to Fayette County officials for murder Galayda allegedly told Krukar's wife Scotcher was to be killed in 1967

Bicycle Shop Fire Contained in Ellwood City
A fire at the Uneeda Cycle Shop on North Street and First Avenue was quickly controlled with little damage. Fire Chief Charles E. West said the blaze may have started from a hot water tank igniting gasoline vapors from a grease trap in a water drain.

New Castle Man Fined by Mayor for Drunk and Disorderly Conduct
Darrell Dick, 24, of 603 Spruce Street pleaded guilty before Mayor Samuel Teolis to a charge of drunk and disorderly conduct. He was fined 100 dollars after a Thursday two car crash at Fourth Street and Wayne Avenue caused no injuries. the other driver was Helen Jacqueline Bolin, 35, of Wurtemburg.

Five Firemen Injured As Brush Fires Rage Near Los Angeles
In NEWHALL California five firefighters suffered first degree burns and smoke inhalation battling two large fires in tinder dry mountains north of Castaic. Captain Phillip Goodell is in critical condition, with four others in serious condition. The Libre Mountain Fire and a second blaze burned 27 500 acres as 550 firefighters worked under 90 degree heat with gusts to 35 mph. A backfire near a new freeway offered hope to protect Castaic.
