Joseph Phillips 85 years 8 months 14 days died Wednesday at his son Charles B Phillips 3801 West Washington Street from Brights disease. Born in Staffordshire England he lived in the United States many years and worked as a miner. Survived by his son a half brother and his wife preceded him in death. Funeral at 8 pm Thursday at the residence with burial Friday at Cannonsburg Pennsylvania.

Butler man saves grandson by leaping from oncoming engine
Michael Pitzer of Butler Avenue tried to board a dinkey at the New Portland Cement crossing to reach his grandchild. He shielded the child in his arms, jumped back to avoid the engine, and lost his left leg as the foot was crushed. James Reynolds longtime Lawrence county official dies at 88 after a two week illness. Born September 8 1819 on the County Line, he served as county treasurer starting January 1 1882 for three years. Thumb Severed At Emery Wheel Accident In Greer Mill
Clarence Wier, a carpenter of Walnut street, suffered a severe accident at the Greer tin mill when a chisel slipped while at a fast spinning emery wheel. His left thumb was ground off at the first joint after being caught against the wheel guard. The injury required amputation at the first joint by Dr. J. R. Cox.
