Two youths from Asheboro and Colorado Springs were bitten by sharks while swimming about 20 yards from shore in waist-deep water. A 12-year-old girl lost her left arm below the elbow and a 16-year-old boy had his left arm severed above the elbow in separate attacks about 2 miles apart.
