Wilmington Area School District votes 2.5 percent tax hike
Wilming ton Area School District directors approve a 2.5 percent tax increase for the next school year, far below the 8.1 percent allowed by the state. The plan shifts burden to pension costs with rising Public School Employees Retirement System contributions, signaling a bleak budget future as costs climb to 32.23 percent by 2019-20. Board President Bo DiMuccio cites mismanagement and market collapse as root causes, warning the district will run deficits next year.
