A powerful storm tore through the area causing property damage across parts of the city. Reported impacts include damaged roofs, flooded streets, and downed trees hindering traffic and utilities. Local crews assess aftermath and begin repair work as residents brace for potential further threats.
An electric storm struck New Castle at six last night causing extensive damage across the city. Street cars halted, West Washington Street flooded to Erie Crossing, and cellars along Mill and Washington filled. The Love and Megown drug store suffered major damage as the Airdome roof was torn away. Trees were uprooted, fruit trees stripped, and a Mahoningtown man collected a bushel of peaches. A big oak at Attorney R. K. Aiken’s Highland avenue home was torn from the ground and nearly toppled the house mountain.
Detectives Alexander Rogoff and Ivan Arvak hunt the famed Romanoff pearls, a czarina's stolen necklace, tracing leads across American cities. An American detective agency assists the inquiry as the two investigators claim two weeks in the United States.

Lightning struck Robert White's large stock barn on the Big Run in Slippery Rock township Sunday night, burning the cow barn to the ground. The building burned rapidly with a total loss of machinery inside though no stock was present. The family lacked fire apparatus and watched the blaze. Loss estimated as considerable. Lightning also struck the Portersville Presbyterian church steeple but caused no fire.
In Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania on June 12 William Thomas ten, drowned while swimming in a mine cave hole. Nearby Hazleton seven year old Joseph Morse also died in a similar accident.
New Castle police pulled Henry Wilson of Youngstown from the Rosena furnace dam area along Neshannon Creek yesterday afternoon. He told authorities he came to New Castle with a friend and was rescued from deep water before possible drowning. He appeared in police court this morning.
Ex Speaker Cannon denied rumors of a November vaudeville engagement in Chicago with a 3000 dollar weekly salary. Proceeds would fund a Danville model farm foundation. He told reporters the claim was a harmless lie and refused further comment.

In Cleveland on June 12 a 7000 garment workers strike escalated as independent employers backed firms allied with the Garment Makers Association. Picketing resumed, settlement talks with eight independents likely halted, and rioting led to the mobbing of non union foreman Joseph Rabinovitz who was saved by police and hospitalized. Six alleged attackers were arrested but released for lack of identification.

Sheriff Whaley takes charge of the New Castle Auto Company on South Mercer Street and schedules a sheriff sale for Monday June 19. A prior court judgment for 1250 dollars favors Lawrence Savings and Trust Company. The plant stock includes a lathe, drill presses, vises, an electric motor, belts, heater, safe, gas pumps, tanks and other machinery. All will be sold under the hammer.

The case tightens around the husband though authorities say the housekeeper may not have known the crime.
A severe storm in Scranton Pennsylvania causes two lightning deaths and multiple injuries. Andrew Glowap eight died in a Miners Mills kitchen while making coffee.
