House approves limits on aid for expelled students
The Pennsylvania House voted 174 19 to add amendments barring state scholarships from students expelled for campus disruption. A similar 169 26 vote attached the rules to a student loan bill. Earlier, a $54 million state scholarship allocation was debated, up $7 million from the current year but $9 million below the initial next semester total.

Youngsters charged in family's murder
Susan Bailey aged 15 and her 13 year old brother Roger were charged with the murder of their parents and siblings after a blaze at the Parkersburg Home. Police say the siblings started the fire using gasoline from a truck tank. The couple and ten children died, with one grandfather survivor escaping through a bathroom window. The teens appeared in Wood County Circuit Court and were placed in juvenile custody but permitted to attend the funeral in Parkersburg Cemetery.

Settlement Ends 17 Month X Ray Strike At Two Hospitals
A court announced a settlement between four X ray technicians and St Francis Hospital and Jameson Memorial Hospital ending the 17 month work stoppage. China says Soviet troops cross border in Xinjiang clash
Peking Radio reported that dozens of Soviet soldiers crossed into Sinkiang province near Lop Nor and the Dzungarian Basin starting a battle that lasted into the next day. Chinese authorities cited tanks and armored cars in the invasion near oilfields and a nuclear testing site.

Erie minister elected moderator of Pennsylvania UP synod
The Rev. Dr. A. Ray Cartlidge of Erie was chosen moderator of the United Presbyterian Synod of Pennsylvania at the opening of its 88th annual session in Chambersburg. The four day meeting will address Vietnam War issues and campus disturbances while proposing a $380,000 operating budget and a $49,500 benevolence budget. The synod, with 212 clergy and elders from 14 presbyteries, serves 523,000 members in 1,200 churches and plans to contribute over $6.5 million to the denomination in 1969.
